RAM memory is always on the move. It gets better and better every day and that’s part of how the tech industry works. You will never see RAM getting lower clock frequencies or lower latencies than the previous generation. Nowadays, RAM memory got to 4th legit generation, DDR4, but the fact is that the generation gap between DDR memory is not so huge in terms of performance. Improvements from DDR3 to DDR4 in real life scenarios are not so extraordinary. In fact improvement is kind of none…
But even though DDR4 memory didn’t break any records, how much do we need? The vast majority of nowadays laptops are sold with 8 GB DDR4 memory, but there are also 4 GB laptops or 16 GB laptops on the market. Why? Isn’t the same amount enough for everybody? Well, not always… The quantity of RAM memory is linked to personal needs and it scales very much when we’re talking about professionals. Let’s talk about how much ram you could need for a home, office or gaming laptop.
